Every three years, the National Agency for Cancer Registration and the NationalChildhood Cancer Registry work together to produce a health report in accordance with the ‘CRG Data Publication Concept’ that addresses current health policy issues in the field of cancer, provides evaluative observations and makes recommendations. The first health report was published in 2024

The target groups for the HRC include people in science, clinical practice and politics, as well as the interested public. The HRC 2024 adresses the risk of a second tumour in people who have already had a tumour at an earlier point in time. Second tumours are new tumours that are independent of the first disease and are different from relapses (recurrences) and metastases. Due to improved diagnostic options and advances in cancer treatment, the chances of survival for most types of cancer are increasing. As a result, the number of cancer survivors in Switzerland is increasing. However, cancer survivors have an increased risk of developing a second tumour.

The HRC 2024 provides insights into the risk of second tumours depending on various factors to support targeted follow-up and optimal treatment for cancer survivors.
